Guatemala just happened naturally. After originally visiting as a volunteer in 2014, I fell in love with the sights, the sounds, and the feeling of serving others. My heart was filled with effervescent joy for months and I held the conviction that it was the start of a larger plan. Countless visits over the next many years later, Guatemala has become a second-home that has everything a Retreater could want or need: nature, history, art, amazing food, breathtaking views, beaches, lakes, mountains, while still having many modern conveniences. I thoroughly enjoy sharing with others, together with my expert local team.
Guatemala is a country in Central America, with the main airport being Guatemala City (GUA). Your private accommodation will be in the historical, UNESCO World Heritage town of Antigua, where the weather stays a perfect 70’s year-round. Travel & Leisure included Antigua and Guatemala on its list “The 50 Best Places to Travel in 2019”.
Antigua, the former 1500’s capital of Central America, is a colorful, cobble-stoned oasis, surrounded by volcanoes and nature, where one can easily get around on foot. There are countless diverse restaurants, from traditional Guatemalan to Japanese Ramen to Italian and more. Cafes on every corner boast arguably the best coffee in the world, due to its rich higher-altitude volcanic soil. The architecture combines Mayan culture with Spanish and Arabic influence, creating colorful, arch-filled, courtyard-containing environments.
The people are particularly warm and hospitable, allowing any stranger to easily become a friend. The Guatemalan people take pride in kindness and courtesy. We are so excited to welcome you!
